Collin: project platform for primary education
June 1st, 2009 | Published in Start
Collin is being made for learners of the last two classes of primary school - age 10 till 13. These learners are familiar with social software and are Independent enough to start working in groups in an online environment.
The platform will exist out of tools that make it possible to communicate and comment on other learners. Individually or in groups, learners are exploring new theories about the topic of that semester. The learners will learn about history, traditions and culture in an interactive way. By communication with others and the teacher, the learner will formulate new knowledge and find new materials. During this process the learner and its group will be accompanied to a final project. On the beginning of the process the group has chosen a specific end result that will be presented in the end of every project. With use of various tools such as video (Youtube), presentation software (Slideshare) or with use of Podcast (iTunes), photo’s (Flickr) or Visuals (Google) but also by working out a paper model (print media) of a newspaper or booklet. Learners of this age are creative enough to work out their own unique ideas.
