It is been a while but it starts to get clear to me how to get a good concept on paper.
My project will be a homework/ project platform for grade 7 and 8 of primary schools (age 10 t/m 13 years old). On this platform will be worked out some tools that can be best used for online collaboration of learners in primary education. The learners will be motivated and challenged to work together on a specific theme – for example: Egypt in the time of the pyramids and Pharaohs - which the teacher has presented on the beginning of a new semester. The teacher will introduce the theme in forms of a tale. By means of social software tools and managing tools are the learners put to work on this specific theme. The children will be made enthusiastic and are willing to work on this new project. The platform will exist out of tools that make it possible to communicate and comment on other learners. Individually or in groups - exploring new theory about old Egypt with the Pharaohs - the learners will learn about history. The learner will specify an interesting part of this history what interests him/her most about this time. By communication with others and the teacher the learner will find new materials and will be accompanied to an idea of a final project. The learner can work out a presentation of the process and findings that can be shown in class in the end of the semester. This can be done in varies ways by a video (Youtube), presentation (Slideshare) or with use of Podcast (iTunes), photo’s (Flickr) or Visuals (Google) but also by working out a paper model (print media) of a newspaper for example. Learners of this age a creative enough to work out their own unique ideas.
By learning to explore the web and experiencing how to use and implement new input by use of new media a learner will develop skills that comes in handy for other challenges in live.
The learner will learn to take initiative, to manage and to cooperate. By working out and finishing a project that is your own it will give the learner the feeling of independence and the self-confidence that is needed to learn.
